Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan has confirmed that she is quitting the soap after 12 years as Rosie Webster.

The 21-year-old has been struggling with panic attacks of late but denied rumours they were behind her decision to leave the Street.
Helen told the Sunday Mirror: "I have played Rosie for more than half my life and I feel the time has come for me to move on and try something new. I am very excited about what the future might hold for me.

"I have loved playing Rosie and during my time growing up on Corrie I have made some amazing friends and learnt an awful lot."

Flanagan is said to be keen on spending more time with her boyfriend, Swansea City footballer Scott Sinclair, and a friend said she "will probably take a break from acting".

Helen will film her final scenes at Christmas with the episodes airing in February.

However, bosses are reportedly leaving things open for Rosie Webster to return... so you never know.

Kitty slams X Factor bullies

We'll say one thing for Kitty Brucknell - she's not afraid to speak her mind.

Having incurred the wrath of her fellow contestants and the viewing public with her eccentric behaviour, the bonkers wannabe silenced her X Factor critics last night with an Alice in Wonderland-inspired rendition of Bjork's It's Oh So Quiet.

And with the live crowd finally cheering, Kitty declared: "The people who booed me last week should be ashamed of themselves.

"Anyone who's ever been booed knows how horrible it feels."

Quite right too.

Okay, so she drives everyone in the X Factor house up the wall and there's no doubting she's got diva tendencies but there's definitely something about her.
Which is more than can be said for Nu Vibe, who have now been labelled No Vibe by the judges.

Elsewhere, Gary Barlow suggested Sami Brookes' interpretation of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You was "too cruise ship" while Sophie Habibis had "something missing".

Rhythmix, The Risk, Craig Colton and Janet Devlin all impressed, but why nobody told Frankie Cocozza that his rendition of Coldplay's The Scientist was out of tune remains a mystery.

The big laugh of the night went to Johnny, who responded to Gary's suggestion that he looked like Aladdin by saying: "You can rub my lamp any time."

And Misha B is likely to struggle to keep her diva behaviour under control after being told she was "more like a guest star than a contestant".

As for Kitty, Mr Barlow hit the nail on the head when he said: "If this was really a talent contest and not a popularity one you'd be here next week."

Will Kitty survive the public vote and who do you think was the standout performer last night? Leave your comments below...

Just because you're crowned the winner of X Factor doesn't mean you'll go on to have a huge career (Hello Joe McElderry. Hello Leon Jackson). Yep, sometimes it helps to be a loser...

Natasha Giggs speaks out on street row with Ryan

Natasha Giggs has spoken out about the foul-mouthed attack launched by Ryan Giggs and his wife Stacey last week.

Natasha, who claims to have had an eight-year affair with the footballer, bumped into the pair in Manchester and was subjected to a sweary tirade in front of stunned onlookers.

She told the Sunday Mirror that she was picking her sister up on a busy road when she spotted Ryan.

"I slowly looked round and he was there on the pavement, eyes bulging, staring right at me," she said. "I could see he was ranting, raving and swearing."

According to Natasha, Giggs caught up with her car and ordered her to wind the window down, before yelling: "Did you honestly think I had feelings for you... it was just about sex."
Ryan's wife Stacey then branded Natasha a "f***ing whore" but was ushered off by her husband, who returned for another go.

A shocked Natasha went on: "I am furious at what Ryan said to me in front of all those people. He was basically suggesting I should take responsibility for the whole mess. Well I'm sorry, but no way.

"I am not proud of what I did... But I didn't have the affair with myself. There were two of us."

She added: "He has this image of being nice, quiet, well-mannered and polite. In reality he's just vile and thinks he's invincible."

Hmm... not sure that's still the case but we take her point.

Natasha admitted that she was sorry for the hurt her alleged affair with Ryan caused for husband Rhodri but claimed she still loves him and insists she is "not ruling out" a reconciliation.

But she warned the other Mrs Giggs that her husband won't change, concluding: "I don't think he will ever stop cheating on Stacey."

Could Tulisa be Hollywood bound?

To think we thought it was a big leap from N-Dubz singer to X Factor judge.

In the space of a few short months, Tulisa Contostavlos has not only cemented her place on the talent show panel, she's also been impressing on the big screen.
The straight-talking urban star made her acting debut in the Idris Elba-produced Demons Never Die this week.

And the Luther star reportedly has big plans for Tulisa.

"Idris really sees a star quality in Tulisa and believes she can make it in Hollywood," a blabber-mouthed insider told the Sunday Mirror.

"He is going to see Tulisa and ask her to star in his new film which is about a London-based sports agency," the source revealed.
