Alec Baldwin issues least apologetic apology ever

Usually when celebs get involved in so-called air rage incidents there's a bit of shame-faced grovelling, or at the very least a bit of backpedalling and a denial.

But that's not how Alec Baldwin rolls, because he's come out on the ATTACK after being thrown off a flight for allegedly refusing to stop playing a game on his mobile phone.
The 53-year-old actor has published his side of the story in a piece on the HuffPo US, topping and tailing his barely restrained rant with a "sorry" to his fellow passengers.

He began: "First off, I would like to apologize to the other passengers onboard the American Airlines flight that I was thrown off of yesterday. It was never my intention to inconvenience anyone with my "issue" with a certain flight attendant."

But after outlining his long-term loyalty to American Airlines he proceeded to defend his use of his mobile for "messaging" purposes (he made no mention of playing a Scrabble-inspired game) - and then to attack the airline and some of its staff.

He wrote: "It's no secret that the level of service on US carriers has deteriorated to a point that would make Howard Hughes red-faced. Filthy planes, barely edible meals, cuts in jet service to less-traveled locations."

Speaking of flight attendants, he praised the majority but claimed "there are many now who walk the aisles of an airplane with a whistle around their neck and a clipboard in their hands and they have made flying a Greyhound bus experience".

And he concluded that: "The lesson I've learned is to keep my phone off when the 1950's gym teacher is on duty."

What do you reckon? Has Alec got a point or is he being a petulant diva? Comment below...

Coronation Street legend Julie Goodyear is set to return to her role as Queen of the Rovers Bet Lynch in a stage tribute to the long-running soap.

The 69-year-old is to be one of the star turns in Street of Dreams, a stage spectacular scheduled to be performed at Manchester's enormous MEN Arena - which will be presented by celebrity fan Paul O'Grady.
The Mirror reports that Kevin Kennedy will also be back as Curly Watts while current cast members William Roache (Ken Barlow) and Katy Cavanagh (Julie Carp) are to feature as well.

It quotes O'Grady as saying: "I'm a great fan of the Street and have watched it most of my life. To relive it all alongside unforgettable characters and talent on the stage, revisiting iconic scenes, is brilliant."

The 90-minute show will feature a 25-piece orchestra and will revisit many of the soap's most famous moments. Hopefully not the tram crash though.

What do you reckon to this idea? Fabulous or ridiculous? Comment below...

Li-Lo Playboy cover leaked

Been on the edge of your seat waiting to see Lindsay Lohan's $1 million Playboy shoot?

No, us neither, but here is a little teaser anyway courtesy of some scamp who leaked a photo of the cover on Twitter (no, it wasn't Li-Lo herself).
As you can see, the 25-year-old actress is straddling a Playboy bunny-shaped chair, which is the only thing preserving her modesty apart from a pair of high heels.

Li-Lo had to do two takes of the photoshoot after Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner was unhappy with the first set of snaps. Probably because she was flashing too much flesh, knowing her.

Hef said: "It turned out very well. I would say that I had some reservations early on, but after a couple of false steps, everybody came on board and it's going to be very exciting."

The shoot was apparently modelled on a famous one of Marilyn Monroe in the mag back in the '50s, not that we're encouraging you to draw any comparisons between the pair.

What do you reckon? Does Li-Lo have a future as an actress? Comment below...

Artful dodger Depp admits tax avoidance (VOTE)

If you thought it was just big companies like Vodafone, Goldman Sachs and U2 that don't like paying tax then you were very much mistaken.

Hollywood star Johnny Depp has openly admitted that he has to carefully monitor the amount of time that he spends living in France with his wife Vanessa Paradis and family in order to avoid having to pay income tax there.
The 48-year-old revealed that he can only spend six months of the year in the country if he wants to legally avoid paying a large chunk of his income to the French government.

He said: "If I spend more than 183 days in France I have to start paying income tax there. So I live between wherever I am on location and the States.

"France wanted me to become a permanent resident for money. But permanent residency status changes everything. I'm not ready to give up my American citizenship."

Is Johnny being too dodgy?

What do you reckon? Is the Deppster's behaviour understandable or a bit dodgy? Comment below...

Amy Childs to be The Bachelorette UK

Filed under:

PA

Former TOWIE star Amy Childs is to follow in the fake-tan stains of Gavin Henson by taking the lead role in a British version of hit US show The Bachelorette.

Welsh rugby star Gavin was the main attraction in the British version of The Bachelor of course, and now Amy will get the chance to choose her ideal man from 25 eager candidates over the course of a series.
It was unconfirmed whether 21-year-old Amy would tell unsuccessful candidates to "shuuut up".

The Sun quoted a source as saying: "The Bachelorette has done big business over in the US so British TV execs want a slice of the action.

"Amy has been picked to be the temptress because she's pretty easy on the eye. It's not going to be hard to find 25 blokes who fancy becoming her boyfriend.

"Who knows, she may even settle down with one of them. They could set up home in a nice mock Tudor place in Essex."

The show will be broadcast on Channel 5, which already shows her reality series It's All About Amy and which made her one of the stars of its relaunched Celebrity Big Brother in the summer.

Perhaps this latest gig will push Amy's bank balance over the magic £1m mark.

What do you reckon? Will you be tuning in? Comment below...
