It's a case of anything Kylie can do, Dannii does too as the younger Minogue sister picks up a university degree.

The former X Factor judge has been made a Doctor of Media for her contribution to the entertainment industry by Southampton Solent University.

It's Doctor Dannii to you - The Minogue gets a degree PA

Dannii followed in her big sis' footsteps as Kylie was awarded a Doctorate of Health Science for her work promoting breast cancer awareness last month.

"I'm honoured to receive this award," Dannii said. "It came as a complete shock."

A university spokesperson said: "Her international career stands as evidence of the personal success that can be achieved with talent, persistence and hard work,"

"Dannii Minogue has made a major contribution to the entertainment industry and is an outstanding role model."

Meanwhile, she had a few words for her X Factor replacements Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos as the competition reaches its final weeks.

"It's hard... I was the new girl once. There is no practice time, no manual for the show and how you should act," she told the Daily Mail.

"You are judged on everything. How you are as a mentor. How you look. I guess you want to be in the spotlight when you are in entertainment but it is a double-edged sword as it's so glaring when you are on X Factor."

Oh Dannii we miss glaring at you and your amazing hair every Saturday night.

This week has been rather different and difficult.

Poor Flavia was due to travel from London to North Wales for our usual practice sessions, but with one thing and another the whole day was lost. Delayed leaving London, Flavia travelled with the BBC film crew and got tangled up in traffic so she didn't reach North Wales until 9.30pm.
Not only that but because we had lost so much time the film crew decided to do some interview sessions straight away. After such a long day Flavia was her usual cheerful, charming self but I am sure she must have been tired out.

So a whole day was lost and so was our first practice session for the American smooth. One thing it did give me a chance to do was to reply to all the kind and thoughtful messages, letters and emails people have sent. There were so many it took me most of Monday, but it's always good to hear from everybody.

Wednesday was another busy filming day with some unusual shots that I am sure you will really enjoy on Saturday night's show. You won't want to miss it.

The American Smooth belies its name; it's really quite demanding being a blend of foxtrot and quickstep but Flavia has made it all go as smooth as possible and I hope you will enjoy our interpretation and our dance to one of the biggest show-stopping songs of all time.

Thursday was an early start. Down to London for a series of press interviews, photo-shoots and preparing for TV appearances on It Takes Two with the lovely Zoe, and This Morning on Friday.

For those of you who don't know I am an avid football fan. Mostly non-league club football. I have regularly been on Radio 5 Live and Talksport. Coming up soon is the first round of the FA Cup and so I am adding my thoughts on who might be the clubs to watch on Football Focus. If you're a footy fan like me be sure to tune in.

Then it will be heads down and dancing shoes on for some last minute practice sessions ready for Saturday's show. I am hoping to make it through to the following week's big show from Wembley. That will be a show well worth watching. From what I hear it will be a real spectacular!

More from me on Monday about the Saturday's show and what the next dance will be.

Thanks again for all your wonderful messages and the encouragement and generous support you send me.

Thanks for being there and keep dancing!

Frankie's cocaine confession: 'I'm an idiot, not an addict'

ITV

If you thought Frankie Cocozza would hide himself away after his X Factor exit, you've got another thing coming.

The scruffy teen has decided to embrace the media coverage and spill the beans on his cocaine-fuelled nights out and sexual conquests.

In an interview with The Sun, Frankie admitted that he had tried the Columbian marching powder on six occasions but only when he's been "p***ed" and when it was offered.

"The most I've done is four lines in one go," he told the paper, though he insists he's never bought it.

The 18-year-old also claims last weekend's bender came about as a result of being "slagged off on stage in front of millions".
"I was totally devastated so I went mental - a bit too mental as it turned out," he revealed.

"I remember having just one line of coke... and then I was massively gone. I knew it was wrong but that didn't stop me."

Cocozza, who insists he is an "idiot, not an addict", was also happy to announce that he had managed to bed a total of seven girls during his time on the X Factor, taking his tally to 74 (at least by his dad's reckoning).

He does have his regrets though.

"I let the fans down and I apologise," he added. "I also want to say sorry to my mentor Gary Barlow and all the people on the show. Basically, I screwed up."

Apology or not, Gary is feeling partly responsible.

In an X Factor press conference yesterday, he said, "In our own ways we've all encouraged Frankie not only to be good, but to be bad. We've enjoyed it. The show's enjoyed the amount of publicity we've had from it but it's gone too far out of control for us to be able to have him still on here.

"I do feel a level of responsibility towards him," the Take That man added. "Unfortunately, I can't follow him around all week."

Well quite... lucky the paps were there, eh Gary?

If you're after more details of Frankie's confession, read the full interview in today's Sun.

What do you think - will Frankie's fame last or is he just making the most of his 15 minutes? Leave your comments below...

George Michael in EastEnders gay storyline rant

Singer George Michael has launched into a serious rant about the gay storyline featured on EastEnders.

The 48-year-old announced on Twitter that he'd "had enough" of the gritty soap, calling the BBC's attempts at representing the gay community "pathetic".
His issue is with the storyline surrounding Christian Clarke and his gay lover Syed.

George pointed out, "So far, Christian has been beaten up three times that I can remember and is now accused of child molestation.

"Sayed [sic] has been disowned and is now mistreating his partner shamelessly, presumably because he is now a confused bisexual after all. Total f****** bull****."

The singer claims the storyline is insulting not just to the gay community but also to the Muslim community and is "terrifying every gay child that is struggling to come to terms with their sexuality".

While he conceded that the actors had "done brilliantly" he suggested the writers need to "re-think their approach to gay 'issues'."

He added, "Message to gay kids in Britain. The east end of London is one of the best places on earth to be a modern gay man or couple."

Steve Jones denies Nicole speculation

PA

The X Factor USA presenter Steve Jones has denied recent rumours that he is dating show judge Nicole Scherzinger, claiming that they "have a definite brother and sister thing going on".

The Welsh charmer - who was seemingly being linked to Nicole mere seconds after her split from racing driver Lewis Hamilton - dismissed the suggestion that they were an item as "ridiculous".
Speaking to US website the Daily Beast, he said, "We were just texting each other about the show last night. She never mentioned that we were seeing each other.

"We have a definite brother and sister thing going on."

Steve also denied that he had incurred the wrath of Paula Abdul after cutting her off on the live show.

He explained, "She wasn't mad at me. It was a two-hour show and we've got to get through it otherwise we'll literally fade to black and won't have any conclusions and we can't have that.

"I had about five producers screaming in my ear, 'Steve shut up!' I love Paula. If it weren't highly illegal I would lock her in a box in my basement and keep her there.

"But please don't print too much on that because you're going to make my personal relationship with her awkward."

Careful what you wish for Steve, she looks like a bit of a maneater.

What do you reckon? Is there anything going on with Steve and Nic? Comment below...

Ashton gives up control of Twitter feed

Say what you like about Ashton Kutcher (as long as it isn't libellous), you can't deny that he's always spoken his mind on Twitter.

Unfortunately that's exactly what's got him in trouble - and led to him giving up control of his feed - having been criticised for a comment about a US child sex abuse case.
The Three and a Half Men actor has put a lengthy post on his blog explaining that, basically, he doesn't feel qualified to communicate directly with the eight million followers of his @aplusk account.

If you're wondering what's caused the soul-searching, it was the flak he got from Twitter users after a hasty tweet about the sacking of Penn State football team's manager Joe Paterno.

Ashton tweeted: "How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste."

To which many of his followers responded that they found Ashton's tweet in poor taste because the manager had been accused of covering up a child sex abuse scandal involving a member of staff.

He later tweeted: "As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case."

Explaining his decision to get his tweets checked out by his people in future, he continued, "Up until today I have posted virtually everyone of my tweets on my own, but clearly the platform has become to big to be managed by a single individual.

"While I will continue to express myself through @Aplusk I'm going to turn the management of the feed over to my team at Katalyst Media to ensure the quality of it's content."

Does that mean less happy clappy self-empowerment drivel in future as well then Ashton?

What do you reckon? Smart move or has he bottled it? Comment below...

They are two titans in the history of The X Factor, so it's nice to see two generations of judges working together, as Gary Barlow and Cheryl Cole are set to perform together at Children in Need Rocks.

It has been reported that the pair will share a 'big section together on stage' at the charity concert organised by Gary next week, and in preparation, he has been helping Cheryl out in rehearsals.
Cheryl is said to be nervous about her comeback which will be the first time she has appeared on TV since last month's Pride of Britain Awards.

"Cheryl hasn't done much TV this year at all and it has been a while since she sang live on stage," a source told The Sun.

"She has been busy in the studio working on her next album so her voice is in good condition but she wanted to get some serious time together with Gary before next week."

We already knew the two were pals as they climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief in 2009, but we're getting ever so exciteded at the prospect of some sort of musical collaboration.

And if that wasn't enough, JLS and Lady Gaga are also performing at the event at Manchester's MEN arena on Thursday.
