Amy Childs to be The Bachelorette UK

Filed under:

PA

Former TOWIE star Amy Childs is to follow in the fake-tan stains of Gavin Henson by taking the lead role in a British version of hit US show The Bachelorette.

Welsh rugby star Gavin was the main attraction in the British version of The Bachelor of course, and now Amy will get the chance to choose her ideal man from 25 eager candidates over the course of a series.
It was unconfirmed whether 21-year-old Amy would tell unsuccessful candidates to "shuuut up".

The Sun quoted a source as saying: "The Bachelorette has done big business over in the US so British TV execs want a slice of the action.

"Amy has been picked to be the temptress because she's pretty easy on the eye. It's not going to be hard to find 25 blokes who fancy becoming her boyfriend.

"Who knows, she may even settle down with one of them. They could set up home in a nice mock Tudor place in Essex."

The show will be broadcast on Channel 5, which already shows her reality series It's All About Amy and which made her one of the stars of its relaunched Celebrity Big Brother in the summer.

Perhaps this latest gig will push Amy's bank balance over the magic £1m mark.

Kris Jenner demands Daniel Craig apology

Kim Kardashian's mum Kris Jenner has taken time out from leading the family's campaign against Kris Humphries to have a pop at James Bond actor Daniel Craig instead.

The Kardashian family matriarch has decided to belatedly take exception to a disparaging comment that the star made in a recent interview - and has insinuated that he is not a "real man".
In case you missed Dan's original comment, he was asked in an interview about the media attention garnered by the news that Kim and Kris's 72-day marriage was in trouble and responded less than diplomatically.

He said: "You see that and you think, 'What, you mean all I have to do is behave like a f***ing idiot on television and then you'll pay me millions?'

"I'm not judging it. Well, I am, obviously."

And now Kris has chosen an interview with Heat magazine to strike back, saying: "It's not made him look like the world's nicest guy. The right thing for a real man to do now would be to issue a public apology.

"The easy thing would be to criticize his career now, but our family won't stoop to that level."

Does Daniel need to apologise?

X Factor: Is Kelly 'embarrassed' by Amelia's success?

PA

With just one day to go before the big X Factor final, there are rumours that a rift has developed between Amelia Lily and her mentor Kelly Rowland.

Today's Mirror reports that the pair have barely spent any time together and friends of Middlesbrough lass Amelia claim Kelly "doesn't want her to win".

The papers 'sources' suggest the former Destiny's Child singer is secretly red-faced about Amelia Lily's success, probably because she booted her out after the very first live show.

And while Gary Barlow has been round to Marcus' mum's house for a cuppa, and Tulisa has been partying and gigging with Little Mix, Kelly reportedly spent most of Amelia's homecoming holed up in a hotel, only spending 10 minutes with her act's family.
The Mirror quotes one of Amelia's family friends as saying, "Kelly couldn't hide the fact she didn't want to be in Middlesbrough and seemed to spend most of her time in a hotel.

"Amelia was out all day trying to drum up support while Kelly was nowhere to be seen. The feeling is she's not too fussed about what happens and doesn't really want Amelia to win."

Meanwhile a blabber-mouthed party-goer claims to have spotted mentor and wannabe at a do last night but said they "barely spoke and were both sat texting".

Kelly's spokeswoman denied the rift rumours, saying she is "completely committed to Amelia" but has been busy promoting her album.

Even so, it doesn't bode well for the big duet.

There is one bright spot on the X Factor horizon though - Simon Cowell will be sticking his oar in at the last minute via a live satellite link-up.

According to the Daily Mail, the X Factor mastermind will be watching live from LA and is planning to comment during or after the final showdown.

We're not sure who will be more nervous... the acts or the judges.

What do you think - is Amelia Lily's success embarrassing for Kelly? Leave a comment below...

Will Young loses The Voice

Pop Idol winner turned successful artist Will Young seemed like a shoe-in for the job of "coach" on The Voice.

Unfortunately it all went Pete Tong at the last minute because he was reportedly dumped in favour of... Danny O'Donoghue (singer with The Script).

And Will's not happy.
Yesterday the Beeb announced that Danny would be joining singing legend Sir Tom Jones, pop sensation Jessie J and Black Eyed Peas man Will.i.am on the judging panel, and BBC1 boss Danny Cohen insists O'Donoghue will bring "freshness and surprise" to the show.

We don't know about freshness but the news certainly surprised Will, who tweeted, "Words escape me. Life is sometimes a bitch."

Following confirmation of the judging line-up, Young wrote, "The Voice came, The Voice went. They wanted to go more rock. Should have dusted off my leather jacket!"

With more than a hint of sarcasm, he went on, "I'm holding a seance with Hendrix. Hang on... I can turn this around people. I can turn this around," before adding, "Going out tonight with an appetite for destruction - guns and roses?"

Never mind Will... the way things are going there might be a job going on next year's X Factor, if you're interested.

What do you think - would Will have been the perfect man for The Voice? Comments below please...

Disappointed he may be but at least Will Young didn't suffer the indignity of getting fired. These sacked celebs can't say the same...

Chancellor George gets booed as fans expect 1D Harry

PA

Oh dear, how very unfortunate. It seems that George Osborne has been given a bit of a rough ride by disappointed One Direction fans when switching on the Christmas lights in his Cheshire constituency.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer was greeted with boos by teenagers who had flocked to the switching-on ceremony in Knutsford after a rumour circulated that Harry Styles was going to be flicking the switch.
The Sun even reports that some girls were in tears when confronted by the Tory MP instead of their 17-year-old idol.

One local tweeted: "Loads of teen girls turned up. Imagine their disappointment when Osborne walked out!!!

"The screaming soon stopped when George appeared. Funny. He got booed by his own constituents!!!"

Harry, whose home town is Holmes Chapel just a few miles from Knutsford, is thought to have been busy rehearsing with his bandmates in London.

It has not been confirmed whether Caroline Flack turned up at the switching-on ceremony.

What do you think? Would you have been happy with George turning on your local lights? Comment below...
